Segmenting and Blending Sounds CVC Cards for Phonemic Awareness

Students will develop phonemic awareness when they use these CVC blending and segmenting cards to practice isolating phonemes in words and then blend them back together to form the word.

First, they will identify the word pictured on the card. Then they will tap out the individual sounds using the dots on the card. Finally, they will slide their finger across the arrow as they blend the sounds back together.

There are 3 versions of these phoneme segmentation cards. The first has color coded dots for tapping out sounds, the second has black dots and the third set of cards is in black and white. The black and white version is perfect for those without access to color printing and can be used with chips for mapping sounds as well.

The kids will enjoy the engaging visuals and hands-on approach to practicing this important literacy skill.
