Segmenting and Blending Sounds CVC Cards for Phonemic Awareness

$3.00

Students will develop phonemic awareness when they use these CVC blending and segmenting cards to practice isolating phonemes in words and then blend them back together to form the word.

If you like this, you will also like our Phonological Awareness Bundle!

First, they will identify the word pictured on the card. Then they will tap out the individual sounds using the dots on the card. Finally, they will slide their finger across the arrow as they blend the sounds back together.

There are 3 versions of these phoneme segmentation cards. The first has color coded dots for tapping out sounds, the second has black dots and the third set of cards is in black and white. The black and white version is perfect for those without access to color printing and can be used with chips for mapping sounds as well.

The kids will enjoy the engaging visuals and hands-on approach to practicing this important literacy skill.

My Kindergarten Reading Lag students love this sound to word mapping. It has really helped my students who were transposing the first and last sounds and students when blending who had trouble with the middle sound.

Touching the dots as they said the sounds helped them segment the word.

I look for so many different ways to teach the same concepts but with different materials that will keep the kids engaged. This is a perfect 5-10 minute filler.
