Editable Flower Word Building Mats

$2.50

Description

This editable flower word building activity is perfect for kids learning CVC words, CVCC words, CCVC words, CCVCC words and sight words! Children will use these printable read it, write it, build mats to learn literacy skills like phonics and spelling in a way that is fun and engaging! These are perfect for your spring literacy centers!

This pack includes most of the blends and digraphs!

These word building mats are editable so that you can type in any words you want and they will be added to the cards you will use on the mat. The font even automatically resizes, so that you can use words of any length and they will still fit!

IMPORTANT NOTE: The file MUST be opened in ADOBE ACROBAT READER after you download it. You can get Adobe Reader for free here, if you don’t already have it. You will not be able to edit the file properly without Adobe Reader.

Children will place the the word cards in the “Read it” section of the mat and they will read the word out loud. Then they will write the word on the handwriting lines. Finally, they will build the word with the flower tops.

There are flowers for every letter of the alphabet, so you can build simple CVC words and sight words.

These word building mats also include most of the blends, beginning digraphs and ending digraphs. Here is a list of all of the blends and digraphs included.

Digraphs – ch, sh, th, wh, ph, ck, kn and trigraphs tch and dge.

Blends – bl, br, cl, cr, dr, fl, fr, gl, gr, pl, pr, qu, sc, sk, sl, sm, sn, sp, st, sw, tr, tw, ng, nd, nk, nt, wr, mp, rk, lt, ft, ld, lk, lf, lp, lm, ct, pt, mb, rm, rn, rp, rt, rd, rf, rk, rl, wn, ff, ll, ss

I also include a mat with four flower spaces so that you can use them with 4 letter sight words. Plus, it includes color and black and white options!

This is perfect for phonics, reading and spelling instruction – and even writing practice!

Love the versatility of this resource! Lots of different ways to use it within the classroom. The only problem is the sheer number of pieces needed are hard for a kindergartener to manage. I will try this with older students in the future.

Really cute activity and the flowers are a nice alternative for extra letter tiles for making words. I am wondering if you would consider making the actual letter petals editable, so that I can just type in digraphs, vowel teams, dipthongs, letters, etc. that I require, right onto the flower petals. I won't be printing all of the beginning blends, etc. as they aren't truly one unit of sound, and I want a way to economically print only the letter petals that I require. It will truly be a huge waste of toner and card stock to have to print them all. I would like to make this resource even more comprehensive. Thanks, so much!
